Herald-Dispatch and reporting experience

Today, myself along with the rest of the journalism workshop members went to the Herald-Dispatch center in Huntington West Virginia. We were shown how newspapers were created and was given a tour of the building.
    Later in the evening we were given a chance to experience what it is like to be a newsnpaper reporter. My group went to the local pool to get the scoop on the vandalization of the newly upgraded pool. Members of the community were helping as much as they could to get the pool back into working conditions. The pool was reopened this afternoon.
    Later through out the day we proceeded to our second reporting location which was the home of an owner of pet monkeys. A law was passed that no exotic animals can be owned in West Virginia so, she has decided to move out of the state and she refused to be interviewed.
    Since today is my last full day here at Marshall University I would just like to thank the professors for the amazing lessons and lectures and a special thanks to the counselors for putting up with us and for pushing us to blog, tweet, ask questions, and take notes.
   

Megan Malone

    Megan Malone is a high school graduate from Ohio Virtual academy. She has always been interested in writing fiction short stories and poetry, so she thought the Marshall University Journalism Workshop could improve her writing skills. Malone has decided to join Marshall. " I'm actually joining this fall."

    Malone has never played any sports. "but I did take a few tennis lessons when I was around twelve." She also says that if she could have any super power she would want to be able teleport.

Journalism Workshop

My first day at Marshall was actually great except I'm just now starting to get the counselors to like me. The professors are great and they defiantly aren't afraid to speak their mind. I'm looking forward to the rest of my week.

First attempt at blogging hasn't gone so well. I never knew it would be so hard to right down my thoughts, even if my day was full of exciting things. Just this morning I've seen and learned things I never knew I would. I'm so eager to go to the rest of my classes to learn more things that can help me with my future career of being a novelist. It's so amazing to be surrounded with all this amazing energy at Marshall University. I'm afraid that I may not want to leave!
